Product Features

  • Selected as a “Best Buy” from a leading consumer magazine

  • Includes grip pulse monitoring and a heart rate chest strap; six standard programs and two heart rate programs; speed range is 1-10 miles per hour
  • LCD display tracks your speed, incline, time, distance traveled, calories, pulse, and pace
  • 325-pound maximum weight capacity; measures 33 by 75 by 58 inches (W x L x H) when assembled; folds to 68 by 43 inches (H x D)
  • The Sole F63 is about $1000, which makes it a higher end budget treadmill. It is a light to medium duty treadmill, great for walkers and joggers, but may not be heavy duty enough for runners. The motor is a 2.5 horsepower, which simply isn’t suited to the workout a runner gives a treadmill. Though Sole calls the motor on this treadmill “whisper quiet”, users report that the motor is actually a bit louder than many other treadmills. This could be a problem if you like to watch tv or listen to music as you use it.

For the money, however, the Sole F63 comes with quite a few important features. The running deck is 20×55, which makes it comfortable for most people. If you’re extremely tall, your stride might be a little long for it. There are six standard programs and two user defined programs. The speed goes up to a maximum of 10 miles per hour, and the incline adjusts from 0-15%, which makes it great for a serious lower body or cardiovascular walking workout.

The heart rate monitor on the Sole F63 is measured through handgrips or a chest belt, but there are no heart rate control programs like you might find on a higher end treadmill.

The LCD display shows you your time, speed, distance, incline level and calories burned. You can also see a quarter mile track display to help you keep track of your progress. The console has a fan and a plug in for your MP3 player. The fan and speakers are not great, but that’s pretty typical of those found on treadmills.

The Sole F63 is a sturdy treadmill. It weighs 245 pounds, and supports a maximum user weight of 325 pounds. Users report assembly to be somewhat difficult, and because the machine is heavy, it may take two people to move it and get it assembled. However, the unit does fold down for storage, which makes it easy to get out of the way when you need to, and users report it pretty easy to fold up and down.

For the price, the Sole F63 comes with one of the best manufacturer’s warranties you can find. You get a lifetime warranty on the motor and frame, 3 years on the deck, electronics, rollers and belts and one year on labor.

All in all, this is one of the best treadmills you can find in this price category. It has a great warranty and should provide all the features and durability that walkers and joggers need.

Sole treadmills were developed for use in hotels, and they have a long track record of providing these hotels fitness equipment that is affordable and somewhat mobile. They have learned to make very high quality and durable pieces of fitness equipment. Sole is a highly reputable company in the fitness industry. They have been in business for more than 20 years. Their treadmills are known for having a simple and easy to use design, as well as for their durability. If you do have a problem with their equipment, they are easy to work with and quick to make the problem right.

As you’re shopping around, you may want to compare this treadmill to the next higher up model made by Sole: the F80. The F80 will cost you about $500 more than the F63. For your extra $500 you’ll get the following:

    * 3.0 continuous duty motor compared with the 2.5 hp motor on this one
    * Maximum speed of 12 miles per hour, rather than 10
    * Weight Capacity of 350 pounds instead of 325
    * 2 Telemetric heart rate control programs in addition to the six standard and two user defined programs.
    * Same lifetime warranty on the motor

So, depending upon your budget and your needs, you might decide to go up one category to the Sole F80, particularly if you want to get into some running. However, for the most serious runners, the Sole F80 probably won’t cut it either. Those users should consider the Sole F85, Sole’s highest end treadmill.

But, you won’t find a better treadmill company than Sole. Regardless of which of their models you choose, you can look forward to a durable piece of equipment that the company is ready to stand behind. Sole has one of the best user ratings of any fitness equipment manufacturer, in part because of their great customer service and their responsiveness when there’s a problem.
